The “Encyclopedia” is a compilation of three types of documentary sources of daily use within the Regla of Ifá. It is one of the most valuable and complete anthropological works that has ever been produced on the African religions that arrived to Cuba. [Folkcuba.com note: The compilers have carefully reproduced the original text--drawn from multiple notebooks--for each “path” of Ifá. Though there is some repetition in content, the texts are unique and varied. Projecto Orunmila adheres to this scholarly process in order that the texts retain their original integrity, and, therefore, can be verified, compared, interpreted, and placed in historical context by users in their individual practices. For these reasons, the compilers refer to the Encyclopedia as an “anthropological” work. At the same time, the Encyclopedia is, on its own terms, a vast compendium of Yoruba-Cuban theology, science, and philosophy of Nature, reconstructed in secret over a century and one half by some of Cuba’s greatest minds. This perspective is reflected in the concise and compelling capsule summaries of each odu that Project Orunmila’s researchers provide for each volume. Each of the first 16 volumes is systematically organized by the controlling odu or sign and its permutations (omolúos). The meyi signs, the 16 “pillars” of the Ifá system, are complied in the series’ final volume, number 17.]

No pueden ni deben confundirse con otros tratados, libretas, y colecciones que se vean distribuidos por otros sitios del Internet, las botánicas, o indivíduos dentro de Los Estados Unidos ni en Cuba misma (e.g., La Plaza de Armas, El Parque central). Pues sucede que muchos clientes siguen confundiendo los “Tratados Enciclopédicos de Odduns de Ifá”—que son libros communes y de calidad inferior—con los Tratados Enciclopédicos de los Caminos de Ifá, perteneciente a la Colección antes mencionada. Clarification about the value of The Collection.

The books of The Collection of Documents for the History and the Culture of Osha-Ifá in Cuba are unique. They cannot, nor should be, confused with other treatises, notebooks, and collections that are distributed by other internet sites, by botanicas, and by individuals in the United States or Cuba (e.g., Plaza de Armas or the Parque Central in Havana). Many clients continue to confuse another set of books, the “Tratados Enciclopédicos de Odduns de Ifá”—which are commonplace and of inferior in quality—with the Tratados Enciclopédicos de los Caminos de Ifá that belong to The Collection offered in Folkcuba.com’s bookstore. The books in The Collection are neither copies nor imitations of any other common compilation, the one exception being the Awo Orunla: Dice Ifá, which conserves the work of Pedro Arango, producer of the first Dice Ifá (in any case, this work is here offered as meticulously corrected and printed). All of the information in The Collection is compiled or drawn from original and unique practitioners’ notebooks and treatises. The documents presented in The Collection are carefully evaluated, selected, and arranged under the direction of a highly competent group of religious researchers of Regla and Guanabacoa in Havana. Therefore, the books reflect not only high quality presentation (e.g., hard cover, made by hand); as well, their information sticks faithfully and verifiably to the most genuine, best preserved, and richest documents to be found in the Osha-Ifá tradition. All of this provides the basis for the prices of the books. Additionally, those who acquire Series 3 (the 17 volume Tratados Enciclopédicos) will receive bi-annual updated supplements for a modest price. All those who own books in The Collection have the opportunity to make suggestions, ask questions, and consult with representatives of the books’ producers. A team of religious researchers is in place that oversees the content of all of the works.
