1989. The Cabildos drumming group, Conjunto Omó Lallé
plays traditional pegged bembé drums (the drummer of the
caja, or largest drum, plays with one palm and one stick). The cabildos
director, Osvaldo Cárdenas Villamíl (right center), sings
to Oyá (left center), who has possessed the then octagenarian Tomasa
Villamíl (in red). patchwork vests and hats for Oyá are
worn by the cabildos male members.
