Tambor for Obatalá: Music of Santería. A Live Afro-Cuban Ceremony.

This is a live recording in Cuba of a Tambor for Obatalá, an Afro-Cuban ceremony in which the sacred batá drums are used. Obatalá is the King of the Orishas and creator of humans. He is associated with purity, justice, and intelligence. The orú seco is the first part of the ceremony, which honors the orishas through the speaking of the batá. Once again, the orishas are honored through the songs of the orú cantado. Afterwards, Obatalá and others are brought down during an extended time of praise songs and dramatic orisha dances. The CD is available as a single CD, almost 80 minutes of the highlights, or as a three CD set of the entire ceremony. 3 hours and 20 minutes. (see prices below).

Esta grabación en vivo representa un Tambor de Fundamento para Obatalá que usa los tres tambores de batá sagrados. Obatalá se considera el rey de los orishas, la deidad de la pureza, justicia, e inteligencia. El orú seco (sin cantar) es la primera parte de la ceremonia, que se dirige directamente a los orishas. Después, los orishas reciben toques acompañados por el solista y coro, entonces bajan y bailan los orishas durante el resto de la ceremonia. Esta grabación esta disponible como un solo CD que abarca las partes mas importantes de la ceremonia (80 minutos).
